Rick Lorio

Rick brings over 30 years’ experience and has a successful track record of creating equity value in upstream and mid-stream energy projects through origination, development and operations.

A petroleum engineer by background, Rick has worked across the energy value chain and multiple continents – his international experience includes North America (1983 to 1996), Europe (1996 to 2011) and Africa (2011 to present). He founded Energy Investment Company BV in 2007 as a vehicle through which to lead various development and advisory mandates (including the development of a nine cavern natural gas storage project in Epe, Germany, and an advisory role with Kinross, evaluating, and developing solutions in respect of, the company’s power requirements in Mauritania and Ghana). Rick also served as CEO and Chairman of Continental Gas Storage BV from 2007 – 2011, and as Chairman until the sale of the company’s storage assets to Haddington Ventures in 2012.

Previously, Rick has served as Director of Origination for NUON, where he initiated the acquisition of $1 billion / 3,500MW of thermal power from Reliant Energy and initiated, led, and developed two natural gas storage projects totalling €350 million. Prior to Nuon, he was MD of El Paso Europe, responsible for LNG and structured energy transactions.

Rick has a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University. He divides his time between the United States, the Netherlands and West Africa.

Peter Moss

Peter has broad experience of the energy and mining sectors, having sat on the boards of various publically listed companies. He currently advises EIC in relation to the sourcing and negotiation of debt and equity investments for projects in Africa.

He was previously Non-Executive Chairman of Tengri Resources, an AIM-Listed mining company with gold and copper assets in Kyrgyzstan, and served as an independent director of the Revelation Special Situations Fund Ltd., a Bermuda-based investment manager from 2004-2015.

Peter has served as member of the Advisory Committee of Max Petroleum PLC, an AIM-listed oil and gas E&P firm with interests in Kazakhstan. From 2006-2011 he was Max Petroleum’s Senior VP for Corporate Development and was instrumental in forming an investor group which provided the capital for the company’s IPO on AIM in 2005 and subsequent capital raisings. Peter is a former CEO of AIM-listed Zoltav Resources and a former Director of NYSE-Listed Evergreen Energy Inc. From 2004-2011, he was a Non-Executive Director of AIM-listed Crosby Asset Management Ltd.

Peter has held senior positions with Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette, Commerzbank and GFI Group Inc., with an emphasis in sales of risk and capital structure arbitrage to hedge funds. In 2000, he was honoured as a “Founding Father” of Albourne Village, the alternative investment online community.

Peter studied Geology and Economics at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and is a graduate of Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts.

Chris King

Chris is a project developer, with a specific interest in upstream and downstream projects in sub-Saharan Africa. Until November 2014, he was Business Development Director (sub-Saharan Africa) for Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), responsible for developing and implementing TAQA’s sub-Saharan power and water business development strategy. During his time with TAQA, Chris co-managed the expansion of the Takoradi T2 Power Plant, and led the early-stage development of various other IPP projects in West Africa.

Chris is a qualified energy and projects lawyer and has over 12 years of experience advising on large scale energy transactions/projects across Africa, Middle East and Europe, ranging from commercial negotiation of acquisitions and disposals, to green-field project development of LNG and petrochemical projects. He has demonstrable (14+ years) experience of living and working in Africa.

Chris holds a degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a post-graduate degree in law from York and is a practising solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. He splits his time between Abidjan, London and Dubai.
